Love vs Ego

Although I wasn’t prepared to let you go;

I had to.

For you had doubts Or so it seemed;

Maybe I had them too.

“Please, not now!”, you had said but I didn’t listen;

I had some issues.

There was a time, long ago, when it felt like

I’d almost had you.

It was the time when I felt so alive! So in the moment!

You didn’t just leave, you took away that part of me

With you.

I’d always dreamed of watching movies with you by my side;

Your head on my shoulder, your hand in my hand.

I’d also dreamed of having coffee with you,

And talk about the things a couple would do.

Fool I was to think that I had time; I couldn’t tell you

How much I loved you!
